Pachisi is played on a board shaped like a symmetrical cross. The big square in the center of the board called a "Charkoni" is the starting and finishing position of the gotis, or "pawns." The player's objective is to move all the gotis around the borad and then back to the charkoni before the other player does the same. A player's pieces move across the board based on the outcome of the Passa, a rectangular dice used as an element of chance.
