Today, the AGENCY is proud to bring you their first mission on the PS3.
We are glad to see this console scene *finally* emerging, and we'll take
advantage of this release to point some things out about the PS3 games...
We really hope to see some fair rules and standards on this console soon,
but for the moment it's quite important to see that:
All PS3 games are of course region free and are playable on every system,
this is not new. But in comparison with the XBOX360 scene, the games
themselves can be very different. "Halo Reach" x360 for example is totally
RF and even if you can find multiple versions of it across the world (one
for each audio localizations) the game data stays the same. Its online
game ID is "4d53085b" and unlockable gamer success are exactly same among
other matching info.
But PS3 games are quite different and each region has its own revision. If
we take "Demon's Souls", its ID is BLUS-30443 for USA, BCJS-30022 in JPN,
BLES-00932 for EUR. The console uses it to save your in-game progression,
but also to identify the game on the playstation Network when you're online.
It was also confirmed that for some games that "Trophies" can differ
(success names, or simply icons) between regions. Servers' IP addresses to
play online can also be different depending on the version you're using, to
avoid lag and in-game conflicts.
Well, the list of differences is much longer and for sure some new things
will be discovered in the next few weeks. So for the moment it's a bit risky
to only care about <English first> releases, and ignoring all the other ones.
We really encourage everyone to distinguish your pre with the correct
USA/EUR/JPN/ASIA/KOR region tag in the dirname, or to add more infos into
the nfo's. PS3 isos' sizes are sometimes a pain for sites or archives and we
know that, but to release each region will not be useless.
